Jesus Christ said, “Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed” (John 20:29). It is, therefore, no surprise the Church puts a premium on having belief before understanding. Scripture also says that without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). But what about the doubting Thomases among us? I have heard it said many times, “Don’t be a doubting Thomas.” I grant, accepting the Gospel message requires faith. Yet, did Christ chastise Thomas for his doubts? No, He answered Thomas’ doubts with love and proof.
